Overview

Music artist analytics platform originally built around the Spotify Web API. Following Spotify's deprecation of third-party API access, the project is shifting its data layer toward more sustainable open sources. The Django backend, metric snapshot pipeline, and SvelteKit frontend remain intact; the integration layer is being rebuilt against new data providers.

• UPDATE: Spotify deprecated third-party API access in 2026, removing the endpoints this project relied on. The features below reflect the original build. The project is actively being reworked to source artist and metric data from open alternatives.
• Artist search with smart result bucketing — exact match first, then partial matches sorted by popularity, then related artists
• Rich artist cards showing profile image, popularity score, follower count, and genre tags
• Daily metric snapshots — automated upserts of popularity and follower counts per artist for historical trend tracking
• Celery beat task periodically refreshes all tracked artists in the background without manual intervention
• User accounts with JWT auth and a following system gated by configurable subscription tiers
• Redis-backed token-bucket rate limiter (atomic Lua script) shared across all Gunicorn workers and Celery workers
• Cross-process circuit breaker with closed / open / half-open state transitions to protect against external API degradation
